The GLOBAL School Consulting Group and GLOBAL School Searched has been honored to provide exclusive search services to CMIS during this process and we believe that Dr. Terry Howard is an excellent match for the school and that he will enrich the community and enhance the effectiveness of the school. Terry’s tenure at CMIS will begin in July of 2020. Dr. Tapingkae, in his announcement to the school community of Dr. Howard’s appointment, stated the Board’s belief that “Dr. Terry embodies the values, character, integrity, and vision that will continue to lead CMIS forward in its position of excellence.”
Dr. Howard previously served as Director of the American International School of Brazzaville, Director at the American International School of Libreville, and Principal at the International School of Kenya. In addition to these leadership positions, Terry has served as a science teacher at different grade levels including American AP levels, British A-Levels, O-Levels, IGCSE, and IB Standard/Higher. He is currently Associate Professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, United States.
Dr. Terry graduated from Bethel College – Mishawaka, Indiana with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, then earned a Master of Arts in Education from Indiana University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education from the University of Central Florida.
CMIS is an independent, co-educational, nonprofit day school for students from Preschool to Grade 12. Founded in 1954, CMIS has been meeting the educational needs of families in the international community in Northern Thailand for sixty-five years. The Core purpose of CMIS is to be a supportive Christian environment for learning that empowers students to thrive in the global community, as expressed through the school’s mission, which is “To develop learners who can pursue personal and academic goals, based on educational excellence and strong moral foundations.
